Computer-Based Testing

Register as early as possible before your desired test date. Due to the amount of time required to process a registration, you may not be able to schedule a test appointment if you register within three calendar days of the day on which you plan to take the test. Test appointments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and seating is limited.

  1. Log in to your account. First-time users will be required to create an account.
    Read About My Account for information about creating and using an account.

  2. On the My Account homepage select Register to Test and follow the instructions provided.
    During the registration process, you will be asked to

    • choose a test program;
    • review the personal information entered when you created your account;
    • review and agree to testing rules;
    • acknowledge your intention to register for alternative testing arrangements (if applicable);
    • select the test, subtest(s), or test section(s);
    • designate institutions to receive your test results (Note: Only institutions designated during registration will automatically receive your test results.);
    • choose to have test results emailed to you;
    • answer background questions; and
    • submit payment using a credit, debit, or check card .

  3. After completing the registration process, you will be sent an email acknowledging that you have submitted a registration. Within one business day, you will be emailed an Authorization to Test. This Authorization to Test allows you to schedule a test appointment. Be sure to check the information on your Authorization to Test when you receive it. Notify Evaluation Systems immediately if any testing information needs to be corrected.

    Your Authorization to Test is valid for one year from the date of issue. If you do not schedule a test appointment and take your test within one year, or withdraw your registration within one year, your authorization will expire, and you will receive no refund or credit of any kind.

  4. Follow the instructions on your Authorization to Test to schedule your test appointment. After you schedule your test appointment, you will be sent an email confirming your appointment and providing the address and phone number of the test center, as well as directions to the test center.

Video Assessment

  • RICA Video Performance Assessment

You may register for the RICA Video Performance Assessment at any time through June 2, 2017, for the 2016–2017 program year. Registration is accepted by U.S. mail only. To receive your test results for a specific test results release date, your video packets must be received by the submission deadline for the corresponding test results release date.

You may submit your completed materials until the final submission deadline of the program year for which you are registered.

  1. Request a registration form. The form and a preprinted envelope will be mailed to you within 5 to 7 business days.

  2. Complete the registration form using a No. 2 pencil. Follow the instructions below when filling out the form:

    • Enter your name as it appears on your government-issued identification.
    • If your address is not in the United States or its territories or possessions, enter "OC" for a state code and enclose a note with your full address legibly printed.
    • If you do not have a United States Social Security number, leave section 6 blank.
    • Refer to the RICA Background Questions to complete sections 3 and 8–23 and Institution Codes to complete section 24.
    • Indicate the submission deadline you plan to meet in section 25. If you chose the November or March submission deadline and do not meet that date, you may submit your materials by the June deadline.

    • If you are requesting alternative assessment arrangements, include the Alternative Testing/Assessment Arrangements Request Form and all required documentation.
    • Mail the registration form along with correct payment in the preaddressed envelope provided. All registration materials must be sent to Evaluation Systems. A photocopied or faxed registration form will not be accepted.

If you are concerned that you may be mailing your registration materials too close to the deadline, you may choose to use one of the U.S. Postal Service expedited delivery services to ensure that your registration materials arrive at Evaluation Systems on time. The delivery service that you choose must deliver to a U.S. post office box.

If your registration form is incomplete or illegible or if the correct payment is not enclosed, your registration materials will be returned unprocessed with a letter advising you of the error. This may result in a delay in your submission until the next submission deadline for the program year.

A materials packet, which includes a RICA Video Performance Assessment Procedures Manual and supplementary forms, will be mailed to you within one week of receipt of your completed registration materials. The manual includes specific instructions and requirements for completing and submitting the RICA Video Performance Assessment.
